The Autism Society recognizes April as Autism Awareness Month. Following their lead, we look forward to the
Fifth Annual Rockin’ on the River event set for the first weekend of April: April 5 and 6, 2019.
ROTR is the product of John Straughn’s wish to bring attention to those on the autism spectrum and with other
special needs. He brainstormed an event that would bring together a weekend of music and fun while benefiting an awareness very close to his heart. In 2015, his wish became a reality and the first ROTR event was an instant success!
Over the last four years, ROTR has blessed local community organizations with over $125,000 in donations. Some of the organizations include Victory Ridge Academy, Side Street Art Beat, Central Florida Autism Institute,
Cypress Gardens Ski Team, Graceful Gestures, Noah’s Landing, Alliance for Independence, On the Edge, Winter
Haven Police Explorers, Winter Haven High ROTC, Circle of Friends, The Special Olympics of Polk County,
Citrus Center Boys & Girls Club, Polk County and Davenport First Responders.
Join us at the FFA Training Center along the shores of Lake Pierce for a two-day fundraising event of live music, great food, and entertainment for the kids. We will kick things off Friday at 6pm with music by the The Nathan Baldwin Band and then rock the shores of Lake Pierce when DARRYL WORLEY hits the stage at 7:30!! Worley will be signing autographs while BURN sets up to start their 10pm performance.
Saturday’s festivities will start with Opening Ceremonies at Noon with special guest appearance by the Polk County Special Olympics Equestrian Team! After the Presentation of Colors, the music festival will kick off with the Polk County Porch Pickers, 2019 Polk County’s Best of the Best Winners! The rest of the day will be filled with the music of Southerndipity, Black Water, the TITANS OF ROCK performing a Journey/Bon Jovi tribute and Josh Blevins Band!
This year is destined to be the biggest Rock yet!!
